I just couldn't let it lie! I had to give it one last push.
This is my 2nd, and last entry to the Okami contest. I have seen the other entries, and bloody hell, I don't stand a chance, but I still wanted to enter just one last time :3
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This be Amaterasu (And Issun), rejuvenating a guardian tree with a brush technique.
One of my favourite things in the game is when you bring life back to a village. It's just beautiful! The game really is art, but in computer game format.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The cherry blossom here is real cherry blossom. I went out, collected some, and pressed them over night.
Ugh, still working on assignments, but... as you can probably tell by the theme of this piece, I'm feeling more optimistic about it! And my laryngitus (which was what I fell ill with) is clearing up! This week in college to go, and it's all finished with for the year! It's looking a lot more brighter :3
So I'll be back after this week, and thank you everyone for your support on my last picture! I'll be back soon to reply to things!
Hope you like! :3
Created with: Watercolour, colouring pencils, blossom, ink on handmade, cotton rag paper.
Note to JUDGES: Higher res version available on request, I just thought it too massive to upload here!
I adore the composition and all the colors, the swirly clouds in the backround and the texture on the tree bark. Are those real flower petals you used? That's a really neat effect. Good luck with the contest. c:
I don't know where to begin to describe how much I like this picture. Your coloring, as always, is brilliant, and I love how you retained the style of the tree in your own style.
I'm so impressed with the real cherry blossom petals, it makes this look so alive.
wow i am favoriting this! and not even at all because it is fanart, i love how this came out so much dear. I noticed after first believeing the petals were paint that they were pressed! and translucent, how lovely! The wolves face is so darling and the background in the entirety of its layout is wonderful and cheery. The whole thing seems like such a celebration of springtime and it inspires me :3
I like this one better to be honest (don't get me wrong, the other one was pretty good too), the cherry blossoms are a nice touch FO' SURE Awesome watercolors and nice paper texture, good luck with the contest :3

"You never shut up, listening to you is like pulling the pin on a verbal hand grenade"
It's late and I'm tired, but here are my thoughts.
I really love Amaterasu's brush stroke, the way it circles the tree, with the trunk of the tree bent into a circle inside that circle, with the blossoms making another circle. That's great, really. It gives an impression of the rest of the blossoms expanding from that point [Using actual blossoms as well? Brilliant.]

Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 10 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
